The Vancouver Skateboard Coalition is an activist group operating to maintain and improve skate culture within the city.

 

“The mission of the Vancouver Skateboarding Coalition is to act as an entity that is accessible to all skateboarders, promoting unity throughout our city’s diverse skateboard scene and taking a proactive role in creating and maintaining a safe, fun environment that all of Vancouver’s skateboarders can enjoy for years to come.” - Vancouver Skateboarding Coalition

 

Vancouver’s skaters and police officers had a negative mentality towards each other as the city remained very anti-skating. Feuds with security and strategies put in place to stop skateboarders, (Ex. Grind blockers) only made the relationship worse. The Vancouver Skate Coalition however solves this problem by communicating directly and responsibly to the city.

Although they are admittedly unorganized, The Coalition has become the voice that skateboarders in Vancouver have desperately needed for years. With change on the horizon, it will be The Coalition who help shape the skater lifestyle as we shift from the days of The Plaza.
